The first bottlings of the Irish Waterford Distillery were completely sold out within a very short time. After this success, the distillery brings the Single Farm Origin Whiskies on the market, which convince especially with their origin. On the south coast of Ireland, in the shadow of a lighthouse, is the Hook Head Distillery. The prevailing extremely maritime terroir as well as the cultivation of the barley on clay/loam soils, by Martin Foley, characterises this single malt with an intense spiciness, salted caramel, liquorice and lemon peel. Matured for 3 years, 8 months and 25 days in 46% First Fill American Oak, 22% Virgin American Oak, 15% Premium French Oak and 17% Vin Doux Naturel pre-aged casks. Not coloured. Not chill-filtered. Distilled: 2017 Bottled: February 2021 Awards: - "Best Irish Single Malt" & "Best Irish Whiskey" at the World Spirits Competition in San Francisco. Tasting notes:Colour: Amber. Nose: Earthy, malty, notes of fresh earth, citrus peel, bread crusts, spices, cloves, white pepper, notes of caramel, milk chocolate, salted popcorn, green oak leaves. Taste: Intense, spicy, cloves, white pepper, salted caramel, liquorice, ginger biscuits, lemon peel, chilli chocolate. Finish: Long lasting, dry, oily, subtle spiciness.
