Together with its sister distillery Glenfiddich, The Balvenie is still independent and family-owned by its founders.
Two different casks are used for the 16-year-old Balvenie French Oak. The whsiky receives the full maturation in the first barrel, through the finish in the second barrel, it receives the special cask finish flavor. For the first time, casks from the French vineyards are used in the process. For the finish, only Pineau des Charantes barrels are used, these are a true rarity in the whiskey industry.
