The history of the Locher family and its brewing art began in the 18th century. In 1886, the family took over the brewery in Appenzell, which is still a well-known brewery and distillery today. In 1999, the production of Säntis Malt in beer barrels was started. Shortly after, in 2002, the first product appeared on the market and the distillery went down in history as a pioneer of Swiss whisky production. Due to the excellent whiskies, the brewery received the Whisky Destillery 2011 award. The Säntis Malt Appenzeller Single Malt Edition Trinity impresses with the use of spicy barley, pure spring water from the Appenzell highlands and the storage in oak beer barrels.
