To flavor a gin, there are up to 120 different botanicals, which are selected with extreme care and used during distillation. The stills are heated and at the various boiling points the botanicals pass on their aroma and flavor to the alcohol spirit. A speciality among gins is the sloe gin, which also benefits from wild sloe berries as an ingredient. One of the best known examples of this very fresh and fruity type of gin is Plymouth Sloe Gin.
