South of Florence is the Tenuta Tignanello. The Antinori family has achieved much with its vineyards, winery and production. Tradition and mondernity play perfectly together. The year 2020 began with a mild winter accompanied by a short cold spell. The mostly good weather conditions resulted in an early budding of the vines, the harvest of the fully ripe grapes began on September 17 and was completed in the first weeks of October. The grapes were harvested separately and destemmed, after which they were placed in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation took place at a controlled temperature of 26-28°C, in order to highlight the aromatic expression and to maintain the fruity and floral notes. Once fermentation was complete, the Pèppoli Chianti Classico was placed in large Slavonian oak barrels and, to a lesser extent, in barriques and stainless steel tanks. Bottling then took place in January 2022. Tasting notes:Ruby red in the glass. On the nose intense notes of red fruits such as cherries, currants and earthberries. These notes are accompanied by violets and lavender and hints of licorice. Palate tasty, fresh and well structured tannins. Long lasting on the finish. Grape variety: Sangiovese. Aging: Slavonian oak barrels. Closure: Natural cork. Drinking temperature: 16-18°C.
