The Markus IRO winery is located in Gols in the middle of the traditional wine-growing area, where about 20 hectares of vines are cultivated in excellent sites such as Gabarinza or Heideboden. 30% of the vines are used for white wines, 70% for red wines. The Pannonian as well as continental influences due to high humidity as well as little precipitation favor the quality of IRO wines. The soil of the vineyards are covered by limestone, gravel, clay and sand. Awards: - Winery of the year 2022, wine award Burgenland. - Winner at Die Presse "rote sortenvielfalt" (red variety) - 87-89 points 15/16 from Falstaff Weinguide Tasting notes:Deep ruby with dark core. On the nose and palate of chocolate, blueberries, vanilla, juniper, ivy, undergrowth and lightly of peppers. Long lasting on the finish. A wine of the highest quality, with a lot of character and single-varietal an absolute rarity in Austria. Grape variety: Cabernet Franc. Maturation: Barrique. Residual sugar: 4,6 g/l. Acidity: 4,8 g/l. Closure: Natural cork. Drinking temperature: 16-18 °C. Harmonizes perfectly with beef.
