The Highland Park distillery was founded by Magnus Eunson in 1798. Today The Edrington Group is the owner of the distillery. It is the northernmost whisky distillery in Scotland and is located in Kirkwall on the Orkney Island mainland. The distillery buildings of Highland Park are listed in the Scottish Heritage Lists and produce around 2.5 million litres of whisky annually. Actually this Highland Park was only made for the Swedish market. The Highland Park 10 Years Old Ambassador's Choice was developed by Martin Markvardsen. This whisky matures for 10 years in ex-bourbon casks of American oak.Tasting notes:Colour: Amber. Nose: oily, slightly malty, fresh, citrus, vanilla, caramel, honey, mint, hay, grass, oranges. Taste: Peaty, subtle, earthy, herbs, mint, citrus, heather. Finish: Long lasting, peaty, spicy, lively, notes of tobacco.
