Aperol is a brand of the Campari Group. It is a distillate of rhubarb, cinchona bark, yellow gentian, bitter orange and aromatic herbs. The liqueur was first launched in Padua in 1919 and was developed by brothers Luigi and Silvio Barbieri.Tasting notes:Colour: Orange-red. Taste: Bitter to sweet, fruity, fine herbal notes. Because of its fruity-bitter taste it is mostly used as an aperitif or in cocktails. Aperol is preferably drunk pure, on ice or with soda, but is also a popular basis for numerous mixed drinks, as this bitter speciality harmonises perfectly with many ingredients such as orange or grapefruit juice, tonic water, champagne or sparkling wine and a variety of spirits.
