The Aberlour whiskey distillery is located in Charlestown of Aberlour in Scotland. The distillery has passed through many hands since its founding in 1826 and is now owned by Chivas Brothers. 'A'bunadh' is Gaelic and means something like 'from the original'. This single malt is said to be a respectful toast to Aberlour founder James Fleming. Alba refers to 'Quercus Alba', which describes the type of American white oak used. Additionally, it is the name of Scotland in Scottish Gaelic. American white oak casks, which were previously filled with bourbon, are selected for the maturation of the single malt. This malt is bottled at cask strength and not cold-filtered. Tasting notes:Color: Light amber. Nose: Sweet, notes of juicy apples, pears, honey, vanilla. Palate: Fruity of baked apples, almonds. Finish: Long lasting.
