The distillery A.H. Riise is located on St. Thomas Island, an American Virgin Island in the Caribbean. Before this island became an American territory, it was a Danish colony. Around the 1840s, the pharmacist Albert Heinrich was not only allowed to open a pharmacy but also to produce alcohol. The A.H. Riise Royal Danish Navy Rum consists of various rum distillates up to 20 years old. Through the Pot Still process the rum gets its dark colour. It is blended by hand in small quantities and is not cold filtered.Tasting notes:Colour: dark brown. Nose: sweet, aniseed, liquorice, notes of caramel. Taste: Exotic fruits, bitter oranges, bergamot. Finish: Long lasting, sweet.
