The A.H. Riise distillery is located on St. Thomas Island, an American Virgin Island in the Caribbean. Before this island became an American territory, it was a Danish colony. Around the 1840s, the pharmacist Albert Heinrich was not only allowed to open a pharmacy but also to produce alcohol. This A.H. Riise celebrates the Nordic Industrial, Agricultural & Art Exhibition in Copenhagen of 1888, which brought together the best of art, industry and agriculture from the 5 Nordic countries. This exhibition was based on the great exhibition in London in 1851. More than 1.4 million people visited the exhibition in Copenhagen during the 6 month opening period. It was at this very exhibition that the A.H. Riise XO Copenhagen was awarded a gold medal. The blend contains rums that have matured between seven and 21 years in selected barrels.
